September 2nd, 2011Our vintage Stratton pieces have proven very popular since a couple were featured in the latest issue of Vintage Life Magazine. We thought we would share a few of our favourites from our current and past collections and tell you a little about the history of this British company which began producing these beautiful items way back in 1923.

Stratton… A short history
Stratton are well known for designing high quality powder compacts with a huge variety of interesting and collectible designs. Stratton powder compacts were designed and produced in Birmingham by Laughton and Son Ltd. from 1923. Some of the earliest of their pieces were signed Stratnoid which was also the trade name for the knitting needles that the company also produced. Several of their factories were sadly destroyed during WWII bombings but Stratton were in production again by 1946. As well as powder compacts Stratton produced other beautiful items such pill-boxes, portable ashtrays, perfume atomisers and lipviews.
The company was taken over by Cork international in 1997, it changed hands again in 2000 to Firmin & Sons PLC and once again in 2006 to Faze Two Manufacturing Ltd.
As you can see above, vintage Stratton pieces come in a wide variety of colours, shapes and designs making them a very popular choice for collectors. Some pieces are quite rare, especially when found in mint condition, making them highly desirable and valuable. We hope you love them as much as we do!
